My eyes came across a few articles on Matisyahu and his new album “Light”. And I was horrified for myself noticed that each of the authors of these articles, simply feels obligated to mention that Matisyahu Jew, and another to insert a few, as they think, funny jokes about Jews singing “Reggae” … I was just furious, I want to tell them in person:- Fuck racists, your mother!
And finally, what about the album. “Light” is based on the style of Reggae from the first two albums, Matisyahu. But it’s still not 100% Reggae, a retreat in the direction of hip-hop and the song “Escape”, a vivid proof of this. “On Nature” is a bright singalong featuring a children’s choir. The cheerful “So Hi So Lo” is a sunny track that will make you wish summer never ended, while the lead off single “One Day” riffs heavily off Alphaville’s “Forever Young”.
